Kiongozi Online, a new civic technology platform, has officially launched with the aim of improving access to verified election information for Kenyan voters ahead of the country’s 2027 General Elections.
The platform provides comprehensive coverage of Kenya’s six elective offices—President, Governor, Senator, Member of Parliament, Woman Representative and Member of County Assembly—allowing users to search candidates by county, review party affiliations and read publicly stated policy positions.

To support voter participation, Kiongozi Online includes a polling station locator that helps users identify where they will vote and provides directions. An interactive election timeline tracks key milestones such as voter registration periods, nomination deadlines and election dates.
“In 2022, gaps in access to reliable information affected voter confidence,” the Kiongozi Online team said in a statement. “Our goal is to build digital democratic infrastructure that supports transparency, accountability and informed participation, from the ward level to the presidency.”
The launch comes as Kenya prepares for what is widely expected to be a competitive election cycle. Voters aged 18 to 35 are projected to make up the majority of the electorate, amid growing public demand for issue-based campaigns and greater accountability from political leaders.
Kiongozi Online seeks to address these expectations by publishing verified candidate data sourced from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission and supplemented by direct submissions from candidates and political parties. The platform emphasizes accuracy and accessibility as central to its mission.
In addition to candidate profiles, the platform features a directory of registered political parties, voter education resources and Sauti Yetu, a public forum where citizens can discuss candidates, policies and electoral issues. Political parties and candidates are also able to create profiles to engage directly with voters.By consolidating essential election information in one place, Kiongozi Online aims to support informed decision-making and strengthen civic engagement as Kenya moves toward the 2027 polls.
