South Africa strengthens its leadership in the transition to clean energy with Trinasolar’s participation in the Solar & Storage Live Africa exhibition, which will be held in Nasrec, Johannesburg, from March 25 to 27, 2025. The event highlights the country’s commitment to strengthening its energy infrastructure through the adoption of advanced solar technologies and energy storage, driving a more sustainable and resilient future.

Despite recent challenges, such as returning to Stage 3 load shedding, South Africa continues to demonstrate its ability to tackle the energy crisis with innovative solutions. Trinasolar, a global leader in photovoltaic technology, is committed to supporting the country through the deployment of high-efficiency solar modules and energy storage systems specifically designed for local conditions. Vincent Wu, Global Sales Vice President and Head of MEA MU at Trinasolar, emphasized: “We are excited to showcase at this event our cutting-edge technology that not only meets immediate energy needs but also positions South Africa as a leader in energy sustainability on the continent.”

Trinasolar’s long track record in South Africa supports the success of its solutions in large-scale projects such as the 135 MW Merak 1 project, the 283 MWdc Mooi Plaats photovoltaic plant, and the 195 MW Springbok project. These developments demonstrate how the combination of technological investment and strategic vision is transforming the country’s energy landscape, reducing its reliance on conventional energy sources and advancing toward a cleaner and more secure energy mix.

One of the highlights of the event will be the presentation of the TrinaStorage Elementa 2 Pro – 5MWh energy storage system, a robust and adaptable solution designed to address the country’s climatic and structural challenges, such as high temperatures, humidity, and grid instability. With a lifespan of 15,000 cycles and intelligent hybrid cooling, the system ensures continuous and efficient performance, maximizing operational reliability even in adverse conditions.

Zaheer Khan, Regional Director for Trinasolar in South Africa, emphasized the company’s commitment to the country: “Our local investments are paying off and consolidating South Africa as a solar energy leader in the region. With nearly one gigawatt of solar modules and 250 MW of solar trackers delivered in the past year, we are actively supporting the country’s progress toward a safer and more sustainable energy future.”

Trinasolar’s presence at Solar & Storage Live Africa reinforces South Africa’s leading role in the adoption of renewable energy, promoting an energy model that not only addresses current challenges but also paves the way for a greener and more resilient economy.
