Akoto Ohene, the CEO of nsemgh.com, has mooted that our education authorities must consider introducing computer programing in our school curriculum.
Speaking to nsemgh.com in an exclusive interview, he stressed that should we introduce coding – a computer language – as part of our curriculum, from lower primary to the Junior High School level, it will do us a whole world of good.
” We must consider introducing computer programing in our schools. The world is evolving. The world is moving into the tech age, where everything will be based on I.T. “
” Vehicles are now being built on Artificial Intelligence (A.I). Everything depends on applications now. Consider Q.R codes, which are used to purchase food and other items online”
“If we don’t groom our students to be tech-savvy, it is obvious we are churning out “useless” graduates. But with technology, our students can independently initiate businesses like building of websites, developing apps for unique and important functions, etc”
Current Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, speaking at the National Stakeholder Engagement on the Common Core Program (CCP) February last year said, “the country could not implement one thing in the educational system and expect things to change; we have to do different things at the same time before optimum results are achieved”
Thus it is important to consider teaching our children the computer language of coding, since the world has become a digital and information communication technology (I.C.T) space.
