Lusaka’s iconic Pamodzi Hotel will undergo an extensive renovation while remaining operational, with plans to reopen in 2026 under the Hyatt Regency brand. This project marks Hyatt Regency’s entry into Zambia, expanding the global footprint of the chain and offering World of Hyatt members the opportunity to earn and redeem points and night credits.

“We are delighted to collaborate with ASB Hotel Properties, Albwardy Investments, and Pamodzi Hotels PLC to bring Hyatt Regency to Zambia in 2026,” said Stephen Ansell, General Manager of Hyatt for the Middle East and Africa. “This agreement represents a significant milestone in expanding our brands across Africa and underscores our commitment to developing an iconic portfolio of hotels in strategic new destinations.”

Ali Albwardy, Chairman of Albwardy Investments, highlighted the significance of the project: “Pamodzi Hotel has long been a landmark in Lusaka. With this renovation and rebranding, our goal is to establish it as a premier destination for both business and leisure travelers, reflecting Albwardy Investments’ continued commitment to the African hospitality sector and delivering exceptional guest experiences in high-potential markets.”

Hyatt Regency Lusaka The Pamodzi will feature 170 contemporary rooms and suites equipped with advanced technology. Meeting and event spaces have been designed to accommodate both large-scale conferences and private gatherings, combining functionality with elegance.

Conveniently located near Lusaka’s main financial district and key cultural attractions such as the National Museum of Zambia, the hotel will also provide access to nearby natural experiences, including Lusaka National Park and the Elephant Orphanage Project, managed by Game Rangers International, just a 30-minute drive away. The opening of Hyatt Regency in Lusaka strengthens Zambia’s luxury accommodation offerings and reflects the growing interest of international operators in the African hospitality sector, combining tourism, business, and environmental conservation in an emerging destination.
