In a significant gathering set to unfold in the heart of innovation, Silicon Valley is poised to host the African Diaspora Investment Symposium 2024 (ADIS24). This marks the ninth edition of the global event that stands as a beacon celebrating the entrepreneurial and innovative spirit of Africans, African Diasporans, and friends of Africa.

Organized by the African Diaspora Network, ADIS24 serves as a platform to inspire and equip participants to be catalysts for change, contributing actively to the development of Africa and the communities in which the diaspora resides. The symposium, themed “Activate With Africa: Climate Change, Connections, And Action,” is geared towards unleashing the potential of collaboration, with a rich history of drawing participants from 89 different countries over the past eight years.

As Africa stands at the forefront of global attention, being the world’s youngest continent with over 1 billion people, ADIS24 recognizes the pivotal role it plays in the future of growth and development. With half of its population projected to be under 25 by 2050, Africa’s potential for inclusive growth and poverty reduction is immense. The symposium aims to shed light on Africa’s abundant human and natural resources, with a focus on leveraging its diaspora and friends of Africa to carve out a unique path for development.

Acknowledging the remarkable strides Africa has made in governance, healthcare, education, and fintech, ADIS24 emphasizes the need for urgent action in addressing climate change. Despite contributing only two to three percent of global greenhouse gas emissions, Africa stands as the most vulnerable region to the effects of climate change. The symposium will delve into how different sectors, including climate change, healthcare, finance, education, and agriculture, are interconnected and explore ways to activate the African diaspora, Africans on the continent, and friends of Africa in contributing to sustainable growth and development.
