The Africa HR Forum 2023 Launch, held at the Colinas Boutique Hotel in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, last Thursday, August 31, 2023, brought together thought leaders, industry experts, and professionals to delve into the integration of technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in the African workplace.

Keynote speakers included His Excellency Mr. Alfredo Mitogo Mitogo Ada, Minister of Labour, Employment, and Social Security, and His Excellency, Mr. Eucario Bacale Angue, Minister of Public Function and Administrative Reform, representing the Government of Equatorial Guinea. They were joined by His Excellency Don Candido Muatetema Baita, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Transport, Post Office, and New Information and Communication Technologies of Equatorial Guinea, and Mr. Johnny C. Taylor Jr., President and CEO of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) from the USA. Industry experts like Filiberto Mba Obama, Founder of DATA EG, and Oscar A. Nchaso Bekari, Executive Director of Dreams Hub, enriched the discussions.”

One of the event’s highlights was the panel discussions featuring experts from various sectors, including Human Resources, Telecommunications, Government Data Systems, Technology, Banking, and Legal & Compliance. Distinguished panelists emphasized the necessity of addressing the skills gap through comprehensive training programs and the importance of clear guidelines and regulations for technology and AI.

The panelists included: Angela Eseng Mba Mangue- Director of WOOMAX, Angela Eyi- Human Resource Director at MUNI, Don Melanio Ebendeng Oyana- Director General of the National Center for the Computerization of the Public Administration of Equatorial Guinea (CNIAPGE), Gemma Jones Ndjoli- CEO of Jones & Sacristan Abogados, Olga Beng Nee Bilogo – Human Capital Director at BGFI Bank, Ines Felipe A. Eni Ayeto – Human Resources Generalist at MEGPL (Marathon Oil) and Teodoro Bonsundi – CEO of CGSL ICT Consulting.
Moderating the enriching discussions was the President of the Association of EG HR Professionals, Jeromino Mba Oyono Nguema
and Maria Concepción Esuba Renedo- Founder of EVICON skillfully animated the event as mistress of ceremony.

Moreover, discussions underscored how Technology and AI can enhance productivity and drive innovation, emphasizing the need to leverage technology to augment human capabilities.

In the African context, panelists stressed the necessity of collaborative efforts between the public and private sectors, academia, and technology providers to drive the adoption and innovation of Technology and AI.

The well-attended launch concluded with a networking session, providing attendees with opportunities to connect with fellow HR professionals and stay informed about the latest industry trends.
