Martínez Hermanos, a prominent supermarket chain with strong roots in Equatorial Guinea, has taken a leading role in the country’s economic diversification. Its recent strategic agreement with the Government aligns with the objectives of the Agenda 2035, positioning the company as a key player in the nation’s economic transformation. Beyond its success in the retail sector, Martínez Hermanos will spearhead industrial projects focused on job creation, the development of new industries, and strengthening productive infrastructure, reducing dependence on hydrocarbons.

The General Director of Martínez Hermanos, Ramesh Lakhiani, emphasized that this step represents a commitment to inclusive growth in Equatorial Guinea. “Our goal is to diversify the economy by leveraging our business expertise to venture into sectors such as manufacturing, technology, and construction. We aim to be a pillar in job creation and community development, beyond our operations in retail,” he stated. The plan includes opening factories and production plants across various regions of the country, creating thousands of direct and indirect jobs.

The Agenda 2035 seeks to transform the national economy, and Martínez Hermanos will play a crucial role in this process. Its ability to establish value chains in strategic sectors, combined with workforce training programs, will ensure that the local labor force is prepared to meet the demands of a diversified economy. From technical training to adopting international standards, the supermarket chain is determined to contribute to strengthening the country’s human capital.

Sustainability is another fundamental pillar of this alliance. Martínez Hermanos has announced plans to implement clean technologies and use renewable energy in its new industrial operations. This commitment reinforces its vision of combining economic growth with responsible practices that reduce the country’s carbon footprint. “Our focus is not only on business expansion but also on ensuring that our industrial activities respect the environment and benefit communities,” Lakhiani emphasized.

Through this initiative, Martínez Hermanos demonstrates that its role in Equatorial Guinea goes beyond being a supermarket chain. By diversifying its business model into key industrial sectors, the company positions itself as a driver of change and a strategic partner in building a more diversified and sustainable economy. This agreement marks a milestone for both the company and the country, laying the foundation for inclusive economic development that will transcend generations.
