Africa’s energy sector is facing a critical turning point as rising demand, limited infrastructure and insufficient investment continue to leave millions without reliable access to electricity. Against this backdrop, the International African Energy, Oil & Gas Summit (IAEOGS) 2026 is set to bring together governments, investors, energy companies and industry experts to explore strategies for transforming the continent’s energy future.

According to figures cited by the summit organizers, more than 600 million Africans still lack access to electricity, while over 900 million people depend on traditional biomass such as firewood and charcoal for cooking. These challenges continue to affect public health, economic productivity, industrial development and environmental sustainability.
The continent’s energy challenge comes at a time when global economies are accelerating their transition toward cleaner energy systems. Africa possesses significant oil and gas reserves as well as substantial solar, hydro and wind resources, but investment and infrastructure remain insufficient to fully harness this potential. The summit organizers estimate that Africa receives less than 3% of global energy investment despite its growing population and expanding energy needs.
The fourth edition of IAEOGS will be held in Windhoek, Namibia, under the theme “Igniting Africa’s Energy and Land Governance Future.” The summit is designed to promote dialogue around energy security, investment, innovation, land governance and sustainable development while supporting broader continental priorities, including the African Continental Free Trade Area and Agenda 2063.

The event is expected to attract more than 2,500 delegates from over 100 countries, including government ministers, chief executives, investors, regulators, entrepreneurs and international energy professionals. Discussions will cover energy transition and innovation, climate finance, infrastructure development, oil and gas technologies, regulatory reform, land access, local content, investment, finance and digital transformation.
IAEOGS 2026 will also focus heavily on investment opportunities. Organizers say the summit is positioned to help catalyze more than $10 billion in clean-energy investments while creating opportunities for businesses and investors to establish partnerships across African markets.
Participants will have access to executive panels, keynote sessions, technical workshops, exhibitions, investment and pitch rooms, as well as curated business-to-business meetings. The organizers also anticipate hundreds of private investment meetings involving investors and project developers.
Beyond the conference programme, the summit will feature the African Energy Excellence Awards, recognizing individuals and organizations contributing to the development of Africa’s energy sector. An exhibition will showcase innovations across oil and gas, renewable energy and clean technologies.
A charity golf tournament at the Windhoek Golf & Country Club will also form part of the programme, with proceeds intended to support youth empowerment and community development initiatives.
IAEOGS 2026 is being organized by International Energy Summits Ltd, with African Energy World, African Energy Vault Ltd, African Peace Magazine UK and African Energy Academy Ltd serving as strategic partners. The summit is also convened in partnership with the Network of Excellence on Land Governance in Africa, Namibia University of Science and Technology and CRG Research & Consulting Ltd.
As Africa’s population and economies continue to grow, the organizers say greater collaboration between governments, private investors and energy companies will be essential to closing the continent’s energy gap. The Windhoek summit is therefore expected to provide a platform for discussions on how Africa can attract investment, strengthen energy infrastructure and develop solutions capable of meeting its long-term energy needs.
The organizers are inviting companies, investors, policymakers, entrepreneurs and other stakeholders to participate through speaking engagements, sponsorships, exhibition opportunities and media partnerships.
