Oando Plc is reinforcing its position as a leading indigenous energy player in Africa after reporting a 10 percent year-on-year increase in profit, while simultaneously expanding its footprint across the continent ahead of African Energy Week 2026. The company’s performance reflects growing operational strength, with profit after tax rising to ₦241.3 billion for the 2025 financial year. The increase was driven by stronger upstream production, higher crude and gas liftings and increased gas sales volumes, signaling resilience in a complex global energy landscape.

Oando’s participation as an Emerald Sponsor at African Energy Week underscores its strategic ambition to play a central role in shaping Africa’s energy future. The event, scheduled for October 12 to 16 in Cape Town, will bring together policymakers, investors and industry leaders to accelerate investment and project development across the continent.
A key milestone in the company’s expansion strategy came in March 2026, when Oando secured a Production Sharing Contract for Block KON-13 in Angola’s onshore Kwanza Basin. The agreement grants the company a 45 percent operated interest in a block estimated to hold between 770 million and 1.1 billion barrels of oil, marking a significant step in its cross-border growth.
Through its subsidiary, Oando Energy Resources, the company maintains a strong operational base with interests in more than 14 oil and gas assets across Nigeria and São Tomé and Príncipe. Its infrastructure includes over 22,400 square kilometers of acreage, an extensive pipeline network and substantial gas processing capacity. Average production reached over 32,000 barrels per day in 2025, reflecting sustained operational efficiency and asset integration.
Beyond hydrocarbons, Oando is also positioning itself within Africa’s evolving energy transition landscape. The company has announced plans to develop a 1.2 gigawatt solar photovoltaic module assembly plant in Nigeria, including a recycling component aimed at supporting sustainable manufacturing and circular economy practices.
In collaboration with Nigeria’s Rural Electrification Agency, Oando is also advancing solar deployment initiatives designed to expand access to clean energy in underserved communities, reinforcing its role as a diversified energy solutions provider.
Industry leaders view Oando’s continued growth and investment as a signal of the increasing role of indigenous companies in driving Africa’s energy development. Its presence at African Energy Week is expected to further strengthen partnerships, attract capital and contribute to discussions on scaling energy infrastructure across the continent
