The Embassy of India in Equatorial Guinea celebrated the 8th International Day of Yoga

A large number of people from different walks of life including the EG administration, industry, diplomatic Corps, media and the Indian diaspora participated in the celebrations.

The Embassy of India in Malabo celebrated the 8th International Day of Yoga on Sunday, 19 June 2022 at the iconic Equatorial Guinea’s Culture Center, with the theme “Yoga for Humanity”.

Director General of Ministry of Culture and Tourism Mr. Jeronimo Nsue Asumu Nchama was the guest of honour at the event.

Addressing the event, CdA Piyush Singh stated that Yoga is a refined product of Indian civilisation and is an invaluable gift of ancient India to the world. CdA also read excerpt of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s letter to Equatorial Guinea’s President H.E Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, in which he has expressed his gratitude to Equatorial Guinea’s Government for providing wholehearted support to celebrate International Yoga Day and underlined importance of Yoga which assures inner peace and tranquilty in the present fast-paced lifestyle.

In his remarks, Director General of Ministry of Culture and Tourism Mr. Jeronimo Nsue Asumu Nchama underlined that yoga has been the greatest gift of India to the world and that yoga is a strong uniting force across geographies and boundaries. He added that bilateral relations of two countries has been on upward trajectory and the participation of people in the event speaks volume of interest of people in Yoga.

As part of the celebrations, a common Yoga protocol session was conducted by Equatoguinean Yoga instructor Mr. Obiang, which saw enthusiastic participation from those present. The celebration of 8th International Day of Yoga received positive accolades in Equatorial Guinea.
