The situation in Group E is tight. Although Equatorial Guinea is in second place, Togo, with 2 points, holds a burning hope as they await the Nzalang Nacional in Lomé to prevent their qualification.

Equatorial Guinea faces a decisive moment in their journey toward the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). With just two rounds remaining to conclude the qualifiers, the Nzalang Nacional holds second place in Group E and relies on the results of their upcoming matches against Algeria and Togo to secure their place in Africa’s premier national team tournament, set to take place in Morocco.

With seven points accumulated, Equatorial Guinea is in a favorable position to secure one of the qualifying spots. However, they need to overcome the challenge of facing Algeria, who has already qualified with 12 points and leads the group, and then defeat Togo in a decisive away match. A win in the first game would almost guarantee their qualification, but a loss against Algeria would force the team to play for everything in the final match in Lomé.

Equatorial Guinea: Nzalang Nacional seeks to repeat the feat, while Algeria looks for revenge

In preparation for this challenge, the Equatoguinean Football Federation (FEGUIFUT) has announced the arrival of players and coaching staff from abroad, set to arrive in Malabo on Monday, November 11. Under the guidance of Juan Micha Obiang and captained by Carlos Akapo Martínez, the team will begin preparations immediately, with training sessions scheduled in the capital to refine their strategy and ensure optimal performance in these crucial matches.

The situation in Group E is tight. Although Equatorial Guinea is in second place, Togo and Liberia occupy the last spots with two and one point, respectively, which leaves them without a chance to advance. This means that the Equatoguinean team largely depends on itself to secure qualification, and a strong result against Algeria would be an almost definitive step forward. The final showdown against Togo could be their last opportunity to confirm their ticket if needed.

These matches represent a historic opportunity for Equatorial Guinea, who aspire to participate in their third Africa Cup of Nations. Fans eagerly await these crucial games, supporting their team with hopes of seeing the Nzalang Nacional return to the grand stage of African football. The November international window will be decisive, and everything will depend on Equatorial Guinea’s ability to triumph at home and prove their strength as visitors in Lomé.
