Flames midfielder Yamikani Chester scored his first goal for Las Vegas Lights when he came off the bench to inspire his sides fight back in a 3-all draw against USL Championship league leaders Phoenix Rising Sunday.

According to media reports in USA, Chester was introduced after 32 minutes in the first half replacing Raul Mendiola when his team was trailing 1-0 after Rufat Dadasov scored for Phoenix. In the 68th minute, Junior Flemmings increased the lead for the visitors.

However, Lights turned the tables in additional minutes to secure a point with goals from AJ Cochran and Ramon Martin Del Campo.

It was a good week for the former Be Forward Wanderers winger as he was named man-of-the-match in a 3-1 win over Tacoma Defiance in midweek.

Chester’s representative James Woods Nkhutabasa was excited with the Flames attacker exploits in his second USL Championship season.

“He came off the bench and inspired a comeback for his team,” he was quoted as saying on social media.

Following the draw, Lights have only claimed a single victory, three losses and two draws in the USL Championship this season.

Flames coach Meck Mwase said Chester’s performance was a boost for the Flames ahead of Afcon qualifiers in November.

“It is really exciting that he is finding his feet in USL Championship. We need all our players to perform well so that we should have a good squad when the Afcon qualifiers resume,” Mwase said.

Chester moved to USL Championship on a season long loan when he joined North Carolina FC from MFK in a reported K22.5 million deal. Before the deal, Chester was named as the player of the season in the TNM Super League while playing for Wanderers.
