Futurism: ChatGPT and other technologies with Óscar Nchaso

"True awakenings are the result of a sudden jolt capable of making human beings, human beings at their highest level, to use their potential for the benefit of their environment."

This is Futurism! Technologies such as artificial intelligence clearly suggest that we would be more aware and “happy” if we practiced more speaking our minds: saying what people would like to hear and yet do not want to hear.

“In this corner of the galaxy, the universe has reached its maximum degree of tolerance and the human beings that inhabit this planet are increasingly aware of their power of co-creation,” maintains economist and writer Oscar Nchaso. However, true awakenings are the result of a sudden jolt capable of making human beings, human beings at their highest level, to use their potential for the benefit of their environment.

In the future, as one of the premonitory dreams in my first book Dreams (2019) narrates, the families of future babies will be offered to alter their genetic map to improve their anatomical conditions, and the wealthier classes, additional memory devices to embed in their brains, with the illusion of being able to choose the capacity of knowledge that their children will contain, all at the market price and depending on each family pocket, as if quantity and storage capacity of information were the same as production of knowledge and integration of knowledge; which will end up becoming the norm for bringing a humanoid into the world. And yes, there will be many distracting illusions on the road to true awakening.

What technologies do you think will revolutionise the future and their practical applicability?

Other technologies that we may see in the near future are the “robotic retina”, contact lenses that adhere perfectly to the ocular nerve once placed in the eye, which will be able to connect to any device wirelessly, so that people will be able to transfer instant videos of situations they have experienced or store them on a disk to be used for testimony in trials where an eyewitness may have witnessed an act and wants to testify anonymously, offering the precise detail of what he or she witnessed.

Other technologies “around the corner” will be “robotic gadgets” with unique identifiers, such as mobile phones. You will be able to go to a shop and buy a robotic arm which you can programme to go shopping for you, and return home. The future is and will be what we allow and permit it to be, with the permission of the universal law of equilibrium.

Do you believe in the end of the world?

The end of the world as such is a concept coined by our species. I believe more in “resetting”. We live in a continuous infinite spiral cycle, which knows its end at the same point where the beginning is. Future civilisations were here, reached this degree of “out of control”, “broke the balloon with the pin” and everything exploded: mega volcanoes, cyclones, nuclear bombs, for a long period for human perception and yet for the universe, a matter of time lapse. Everything cooled down again and species began to re-emerge in the same order of appearance since prehistoric times.

So we are a reincarnation?

The universe has repetitive conservation memory in a continuous and infinite cyclic fashion. Everything we need to know is in the universal library. Our DNA is preserved there. That is why sometimes we will have “déjà vues” of having been here. That is why we will keep discovering civilisations buried millions of years ago that already had access to state-of-the-art technology. That, is a result of “resetting” by improper use of every new opportunity the universe offers us.

So you think ChatGPT and other Artificial Intelligences are our rescue?

It is worrying. While it is a technology from which we can learn to develop our honest and sincere side, these technologies are also here to stay, and not to be left behind. They could subjugate us, enslave the human species in the name of “what is just and orderly” or even eliminate and replace human existence as we know it for good. For us to reach a degree of balance we should simply be aware that we want many things to be content but need few things to be happy.

Are you proposing a utopia?

It’s called futurism. One sport too many, a way of life. Life is a dream. We should be aware of how our intentions and conscious actions will impact the next generation of dreamers. This is the importance of sustainable leadership, which considers the three scenarios: possible, probable and preferable; always including the environmental factor in the economic equation. What is needed is a balanced integration of collaborative minds, leaders unsullied by selfishness who do not threaten any of the world’s resources, those who stop to think about the deeper meaning of “not winning the peace” but winning the peace.
