Frida Oyana, a young student from Equatorial Guinea, has advanced to Phase II of the international Mission ShakthiSAT program, reinforcing her role as one of the country’s leading young representatives in global space education and scientific diplomacy.
Frida was selected to represent Equatorial Guinea in December 2024 and officially joined the Mission ShakthiSAT learning platform in May 2025. Since then, she has been participating in specialized training alongside students from more than 100 countries, developing knowledge in satellite design, space systems, payload integration and lunar exploration.

Originally selected while studying at Colegio Nuevo Complejo, Frida is now pursuing a degree in Political Science at the National University of Equatorial Guinea. Alongside her university studies, she has remained committed to promoting women’s leadership, international cooperation and greater participation of young African women in science, technology and innovation.
Mission ShakthiSAT is a global educational initiative led by Space Kidz India, developed through the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) with strategic support from the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The program brings together thousands of girls and young women between the ages of 14 and 21 from more than 100 countries, providing hands-on education in satellite engineering, space technologies and international scientific collaboration.
As a participant in this international mission, Frida Oyana represents not only the talent and determination of Equatorial Guinea’s youth but also the country’s growing commitment to STEM education—Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematicsa nd to empowering young women through education and innovation.
Her advancement to Phase II marks another important milestone for Equatorial Guinea’s participation in international scientific initiatives. It also serves as an inspiration for a new generation of young people, demonstrating that dedication, education and global collaboration can open doors to opportunities in the rapidly evolving space sector.
