Nigeria is strengthening its position as a major digital hub in Africa with the development of a new data centre in Lagos by Digital Parks Africa (DPA), the data centre business associated with the Master Power Technologies Group.
The new facility, known as Nigeria Data Centre 1 (NDC1), is designed to provide reliable and flexible digital infrastructure for businesses, banks, financial institutions, cloud providers and connectivity companies operating in Nigeria and across the wider African market.
The investment comes as demand for cloud services, digital platforms, connectivity and data-intensive operations continues to grow across Africa. By expanding local data centre capacity, the development is expected to bring critical infrastructure closer to the businesses and networks that depend on it.

The announcement was made at ITW Africa in Kenya on September 8, marking DPA’s expansion into West Africa and building on the Group’s longstanding presence in Nigeria, which dates back to 2001.
For Nigeria, the project adds another layer to an increasingly important digital ecosystem. The country’s expanding technology and financial sectors are generating greater demand for secure, resilient and locally accessible infrastructure capable of supporting businesses and digital services around the clock.
NDC1 is being developed as a carrier-neutral facility, giving customers and connectivity providers greater flexibility in selecting how they connect to networks and scale their digital operations. This approach is designed to support a diverse range of businesses as their technology requirements evolve.
Digital Parks Africa founder and CEO Menno Parsons said the investment reflects the company’s long-term commitment to Nigeria and its broader vision for Africa’s digital future. The company sees the country as an important market for developing infrastructure capable of supporting an increasingly connected African economy.
The project also places emphasis on resilience and international standards. DPA has engaged the Uptime Institute for a Tier IV Certification of Constructed Facility assessment, signalling a focus on high standards for the facility’s operational reliability and infrastructure design.

The Lagos facility adds to DPA’s growing data centre portfolio and reflects the broader expansion of digital infrastructure across the continent. As African economies continue to embrace cloud computing, digital finance, e-commerce and other technology-driven services, locally based and resilient data centres are becoming increasingly important to the continent’s digital growth.
For Nigeria, the investment reinforces Lagos’ role as a key centre for Africa’s technology and business ecosystem. For the wider continent, it represents another step toward building the infrastructure needed to support a more connected, data-driven African economy.
