Equatorial Guinea’s representative, María de los Ángeles Ndong Asangono, is continuing her journey at the 73rd edition of Miss World in Vietnam, as contestants from more than 130 countries compete for the crown in an edition marking the pageant’s 75th anniversary.

The competition began on August 9 and will run through September 5, making this one of the longest editions in the history of the international pageant. For the first time, Vietnam is hosting the Miss World competition, with activities taking place across several locations in the country.

The contestants began their journey in Quang Ninh Province before moving to Hai Phong and later travelling to Nha Trang, where the decisive competitions and final week of the pageant are taking place.

Ndong Asangono, 25, has shared aspects of her preparation with followers on social media, with particular attention given to her runway training. Her official Miss World photograph has also been published on the pageant’s platforms, allowing the public to participate in the competition through voting.

Throughout the competition, the Equatorial Guinean representative will take part in several challenges, including sports, talent, Top Model, Best Designer, multimedia, Head to Head and Beauty With a Purpose. The latter is one of the most significant components of the competition because it evaluates the social impact of each contestant’s community project.

For the Beauty With a Purpose segment, Ndong Asangono is presenting “Pequeñas Luces”, a project focused on supporting and protecting vulnerable children in Equatorial Guinea. The initiative reflects her interest in social development and her commitment to addressing challenges affecting children in vulnerable situations.

Alongside her pageant activities, Ndong Asangono is studying Clinical Laboratory and Biomedical Sciences, combining her academic training with her social work and preparation for the international competition.

The final stage of the Miss World programme includes closed-door interviews with the judging panel, the Flag Ceremony, a charity gala, a charity run and the World Dance Competition, scheduled for September 2.

The new Miss World will be crowned on September 5 in Nha Trang, bringing the 2026 competition to a close.Ndong Asangono’s participation gives Equatorial Guinea an opportunity to showcase its culture, young talent and social initiatives on an international platform while competing alongside representatives from across the world.
