In a statement shared on Twitter, Pink said that both her and Jameson, her three-year-old son with Corey Hart – began showing signs of a COVID-19 infection. She explains:
“Fortunately, our primary care physician had access to tests and I tested positive. My family was already sheltering at home and continued to do so for the last two weeks following the instruction of our doctor. Just a few days ago, we were re-rested and are now thankfully negative”.
While grateful for her recovery, Pink didn’t leave it there. She referred to the US government’s failure to make testing widely accessible as an “absolute travesty” while reminding her followers that COVID-19 “is serious and real”.
Supporting health professionals
According to Pink, people need to know that the illness “affects young and old, healthy and unhealthy, rich and poor”, and adds that testing has to be free and accessible to “protect our families, friends, and communities”.
In addition, Pink vowed to donate $1 million (R19 million, at the time of publishing) to support healthcare professionals “battling on the frontlines every day”.
The donation will be split equally between the Temple University Hospital Emergency Fund in Philadelpha, and the City of Los Angeles Mayors Emergency COVID-19 crisis fund.
‘You are our heroes’
Pink’s mother, Judy Moore, had worked at the Temple University Hospital for 18 years and the singer in memory of Moore. Pink also commended healthcare professionals for fighting the good fight while putting their own lives at risk:
“Thank you to all of our healthcare professionals and everyone in the world who are working so hard to protect our loved ones. You are our heroes! These next two weeks are crucial.”
She urges her fans to stay home and stay safe.
